About the New Mexico Adventure

April 19 - 26, 2008
Daily schedule

We will take pleasure in a relaxed daily schedule that flows from one activity to the next and will vary during the course of the week. All activities are optional.

A typical morning will include a meditation session in the Yoga Yurt, followed by breakfast in the dining room. Lisa will teach a morning color work session and, after a short break, Suzanne will lead a late morning yoga session. This will be followed by lunch with open time in the afternoons, leaving participants free to enjoy the baths, go for a hike, or take a drive to explore nearby Abiquiu or Taos.

On Tuesday, after a short morning yoga session, we will spend the day in Sante Fe exploring the many shops, museums and artists galleries and historic Square concluding with dinner at one of the many wonderful restaurants of Sante Fe, returning to Ojo Caliente with time to sit by the fire and share the experiences of the day. Thursday we will travel as a group to the Taos Pueblo for a guided tour and visit La Lana Wools to see their beautiful hand-dyed fibers. Taos, Abiquiu, Santuario de Chimayo, Chaco Canyon, Rancho de Taos are all notable historic spots within driving distance and can be visited any afternoon. For those interested in museums, the Millicent Rogers Museum is not to be missed.

Evenings will be spent in relaxed open knitting sessions, enjoying the patios and evening air, followed by dinner at 7:30 or 8:00.

Our accommodations

Ojo Caliente has been a destination for those seeking the healing powers of the ancient springs for centuries. Native American ancestors built their
homes around this mythical place and Spanish explorers searching for the Fountain of Youth considered these springs to be a gift from the gods. Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs is one of the oldest natural health resorts in the country with waters that have flowed from a subterranean volcanic aquifer for thousands of years. We will reside in the mission-style adobe Historic Hotel built in 1916 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. There are modern conveniences, and most bedrooms have their own lavatories but showers are located in the bath house. Our rates are based upon double occupancy, but a few single rooms will be available for those desiring more privacy. We will enjoy our meals at the Artesian Restaurant where the chef will prepare special lunch and dinner menus just for us that exemplify the warm soulful New Mexican cuisine of the region. The warm and accommodating staff ensures a most pleasant stay for all visitors.
